This week was a big week in our household. I turned in the first draft of my thesis getting me one step closer to finalizing this chapter of my life... and completing my masters degree. Greg on the other hand was accepted to the Loyola Music School where he will begin his Master's in Music Performance this coming Monday. This will be my last semester in grad school and his first (again). For this reason and for the fact that we are beginning a new year, one in which Greg and I are living together and planning our futures together, we are starting a blog to commemorate the moments to come. The great thing about life is that we are always learning, reinventing, re-imagining and re-finding ourselves. The best thing about my life is that I get to do this with Greg who believes in me, who pushes me to be my best, who challenges me to learn more about the world, who debates with me, who loves me, and who nourishes my growth, strengths and whims.
This week also marked the beginning of carnival season here in New Orleans, which means that our two year anniversary is fast approaching. A date is so lackluster that Greg and I decided that our anniversary should always be celebrated on that notorious day in which Greg asked me to be his... Lundi Gras! So this year it looks like our anniversary will be on February 15th! This will be a very busy carnival season for us considering the above mentioned events in our lives, but we hope to fill our blog with stories, pictures, recipes, music and memories. Tonight the Jazzholes are playing at the Circle Bar and I need to go get dressed and support my love. He is on a path to combine two of his great loves... music and history. This medley of interests led him to Jazz, because to live is to rediscover life everyday.
We shall not cease from exploration, and at the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.
